Arequipa ("era - keepa") is the international headquarters for alpaca products. The largest alpaca mills in the world are there and villages near and far contribute alpaca fiber to the manufacturing centered in this city.
Arequipa (and surrounding areas) is the home of the traditional Wititi dance. The dance is an ancient traditions, pre-dating even the Incan empire (~ 1438-1533ad.) and is recognized as an important contribution to world culture by Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
The dance represents joviality and romance between couples.
The culture for the Wititi dance is strongly alive and loved in Peru.
